In the elections to the Austrian Parliament, according to the results of processing all ballots, the first place is occupied by the Austrian Freedom Party (APS), which opposes sanctions against Russia. This was reported by the ORF television channel on September 29.
“The APF achieved a historic victory in the parliamentary elections. “According to the results, including the voting card forecast, they clearly won first place.” – says the message.
Thus, the leaders obtained 28.8% of the votes. The Austrian People’s Party came second with 26.3% and the Austrian Social Democratic Party third with 21.1%.
That same day, the President of Austria Alexander van der Bellen announced that the country’s current government will resign next week. He also added that he would instruct the government to work until the official appointment of another.
On Sunday, September 29, elections for the National Council (lower house of parliament) were held in Austria. 6.34 million people have the right to vote in the country. Voting ended at 5:00 p.m. local time (6:00 p.m. Moscow time), Izvestia clarifies.
