Issyk-Kul should not repeat the fate of the Aral Sea. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Akylbek Japarov, reports the 24.kg news agency.
“There is no water coming to Issyk-Kul from Karkara; the Kochkor River also flows into the lake. Farmers use water from springs. At the conference we will tell our vision for the conservation of Issyk-Kul. We invite scientists from all over the world there. We must not repeat the fate of the dried Aral Sea.” – said.
According to the prime minister, a special program is currently being developed to preserve the lake.
Former member of the Kyrgyz parliament Balbak Tulobaev drew attention to the problem of the sinking of the Issyk-Kul River and asked the head of the Cabinet of Ministers about the measures being taken to solve it.
