This Wednesday, the Auditorium of the Fundació Miró Mallorca hosted the Pilar Juncosa and Sotheby’s 2024 awards and grants ceremony, which rewarded 11 new creators.
The event, presented by Irene Salahad as its central axis the awards and scholarship ceremony organized by the company itself. Pilar Juncosafrom 1993, two years before his death, with the aim of helping and supporting new generations of creators, as explained by the Palma town hall in a press release.
Thus, the Biennial Pilar Juncosa Prize for the 2024 edition was awarded to Maria Isabel Martinez and the Pilar Juncosa and Sotheby’s scholarship for the research project on Miró promoted by Guillem Aloy.
On the other hand, the Pilar Juncosa scholarship for artistic education projects was intended to Georgina Victoria Dezcallar and Alberto Pérezthe training grants to participate in the courses of Joan Miró’s graphic work workshops were distributed between Catalina De Nisco, Nerea Sanz Ferrer, Felipe Carrión and Eva Miquel Tortosa, Europa Press reports.
The residency scholarship at the Casa de Velázquez -Madrid- was awarded to Abel Jaramillo and Irma Álvarez-Laviadawhile he obtained a residency scholarship at the Slade School of Fine Art -London- Alan Carrasco. The event program included various musical performances, Joan Muntaner Xanguito.
The institutional representation was led by the President of the Government, Marga Prohensand the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports is also part of it, Jaume Bauzaand first deputy mayor of Palma City Hall and advisor for Culture, Javier Bonet.
The participants, including the winners of this year’s appeal, were received at the headquarters of the Fundació by its director, Antonia Maria Perellóand the group of professionals of this cultural facility dedicated to the dissemination of the artistic legacy of Joan Miró.
