The Civil Aviation Accidents and Incidents Investigation Commission has published its preliminary report on the incident that occurred last August 31 cost the life of flight instructor Juan Manuel Romero and injured his student, near the Villarrubia AerodromeThe accident occurred following “complete engine shutdown”.
According to the previous study, “the PIPER PA-38 aircraft, registered EC-KYX, took off from the Villarubia aerodrome (Córdoba) on August 31, 2024 with two people on boardpilot and passenger, with the intention of operating a private local flight.
Specifically, the aircraft took off from runway 16 and, for approximately 50 minutes“they flew close to the flight field, then carried out two aerodrome circuits and their corresponding landings and take-offs.”
The drama occurred during the performance of a third circuitwhen it was in the base section. The engine stopped suddenly and the plane fell and hit the ground.
