The plot paid 88,119 euros to a Civil Guard commander in exchange for “the protection of Koldo and Aldama”.

In total, according to UCO agents, the commander received, for this purpose, nearly 90,000 euros from the allegedly corrupt network, which would have dedicated itself, from 2020, to collecting illegal commissions via public contracts.

Last March, the Interior Ministry dismissed Rubén Villalba from his post at the Spanish Embassy in Venezuela, who is now accused of alleged corruption.

In fact, the commander was arrested at the beginning of the month at Barajas airport in Madrid, where he had arrived after taking a flight from Malaga. UCO agents arrested him, suspecting that his final destination could be Venezuela, where he had already been stationed for several months at the Spanish embassy.

According to the summary of the so-called Koldo affair, Villalba informed the rest of the members of the plot that the Central Operational Unit of the Civil Guard was investigating them. When this Benemérita commander was arrested in Barajas, he had $4,835 in cash.

On the other hand, Rubén Villalba appears listed under the pseudonym “R” in several documents seized by the UCO on the detainees. Next to his initial appears the number 2,000, which would be the number of euros that the conspiracy paid him monthly in cash. “Every month”is mentioned in the conversations of a group chat in which several members of the allegedly corrupt network participated.
