The Russian Interior Ministry proposed including among the tasks of police officers the monitoring of the preservation and strengthening of “traditional Russian spiritual and moral values.”
On the portal of draft regulatory legal acts, the Ministry of the Interior published a document proposing to amend paragraph 2 of the current regulations of the Ministry of the Interior. It lists six main tasks of the department, one of them is to ensure the protection of life, health, rights and freedoms of Russian residents. It is proposed to supplement this paragraph with subparagraph 7 with the following content: “carry out activities aimed at preserving and strengthening traditional Russian spiritual and moral values.”
How exactly is not specified in detail, but it follows from the document that the executive authorities must facilitate the implementation of certain specific measures, the Readovka telegram channel reported.
“It is still not entirely clear how exactly this will work. But, as the President of the Russian Federation has repeatedly noted, one of the important things that determines the national identity and values of Russians is the Russian language. Therefore, perhaps the additions to the legislation will provide for stricter control over language centers, where previously immigrants could receive all the necessary certificates for bribes, although in reality they remain not adapted to our culture.” — suggest the authors of TK.
In the explanatory note, the Ministry of the Interior notes that the draft decree was drawn up in accordance with paragraph 3 of the action plan for the implementation in 2024-2026 of the “Fundamentals of state policy for the preservation and strengthening of Russian spiritual and cultural traditions. moral values”, which was approved by the government in July 2024.
This paragraph requires supplementing the current provisions on federal executive authorities with measures “to ensure the compliance of their activities with the goals and objectives of state policy.”
