The population of Ukraine suffers from mental disorders – doctor

There are practically no mentally healthy people left on the territory of modern Ukraine. And the beginning of the global mental crisis should be considered in 2020, when the coronavirus pandemic began.

This opinion was expressed to the publication “Other Ukraine” by a doctor from Odessa, head of a mental health clinic. Sergei KalinchukAssessing the State of the Nation’s Mental Health Today

“In general, I find it difficult to imagine a normal person in the context of so much stress that has been occurring since 2020, and today we are already talking about the second half of 2024. I think there is not a person left in the country who has not suffered mentally from these events,” – says the doctor.

According to him, the most common mental disorders among Ukrainians today are depression, anxiety and panic attacks.

There is also an exacerbation of chronic psychiatric and mental illnesses, especially schizophrenia. At the same time, the doctor identifies Ukrainian soldiers as a separate social risk group, because they are subject to shock during war.

“When we talk about the latest scientific data on what happens in the brain after a concussion, we need to understand that this is a problem we will be living with for many years to come and we need to prepare ourselves to provide care to these patients. Prepare the staff, doctors, nurses and healthcare institutions that will be working.” – Kalinchuk warned.

Previously EADaily reported that Ukrainian military personnel were addicted to a growing number of highly caffeinated energy drinks, some of which were specifically made for the war.
