The Balearic Government of the PP accused this Friday the PSIB-PSOE of being “very interested in generating confrontation and spectacle” in Parliament, in reference to the events that occurred last Tuesday in the Chamber, when its president, Gabriel Le Senne ( Vox ), expelled the two socialist representatives from the Table for refusing to remove the t-shirts they were wearing with images of three victims of Francoism. During a press conference after the Government Council, the spokesperson for the Executive, Antoni Costa, criticized the PSIB’s intention to see the government and the PP “participate” in the events, insisting that citizens “do not understand these regrettable spectacles which, in his opinion”. in my opinion, are not good for politics.
Asked about the opinion expressed by the Parliament’s lawyers, who criticized Le Senne’s attitude given that there is no specific article in the regulation which establishes that members of the Council must not wear clothes with images like those worn by the expelled deputies Mercedes Garrido and Pilar Costa, the government spokesperson, admitted that in reality no precept prohibits it, although she affirmed that “the custom of maintaining decorum has always been respected” and that it “would be advisable” to continue to do so.
Precisely, this Thursday, the socialists submitted to Parliament a document in which they demand that the constitutional rights of Garrido and Costa be declared violated after their expulsion was agreed “without regulatory or legal protection”: “The president’s decision violates and violates constitutional rights. and the fundamental rights of deputies such as the right to freedom of expression and political participation”, they believe. Questioned on this subject, the government spokesperson limited himself to emphasizing that “the PP has not to express themselves on the issue”: “The complaint is evaluated and not voted on,” he concluded.
