The Popular Party demanded explanations to the mayor of Algeciras and also senator, José Ignacio Landaluceaccused of two alleged cases of sexual harassment by two colleagues at the town hall of the city of Cádiz.
The case led the party to activate the protocol provided in case of suspicion of problems of this type, confirmed the national president of the PP, Alberto Nuñez Feijóo.
Feijóo himself indicated that he had spoken with Landaluce and that after said conversation the matter would have has been “clarified”.
The PSOE of Algeciras assures that, if the case of harassment is confirmed, it will request the resignation of the mayor and that the PP purges the responsibilities that correspond to him.
From Madrid, the general secretary of the Andalusian socialists, Juan Espadas, was more careful. He stressed that the presumption of innocence takes precedence and asked the People’s Party to investigate this issue.
Errejon affair
The affair broke out this Monday on a social network, Feijoo explained. And he does it in the middle of the Íñigo Errejón affair. But, underlined the national leader of the PP, in this case it is different. “We automatically spoke” with the mayor, Feijóo said.
The national leader of the PP indicated that his party knows “that these things can happen” and that is why it has the protocol. “We cannot accuse the PP of giving lessons on everything and of not being an example in anything.”
“Any type of complaint” regarding the People’s Party must be investigated, Feijóo said, in the middle of the ‘Errejón affair‘, which affects Sumar. “In case it happens or if it happens. Of course it happens,” he insisted, adding that “no one puts their hand in the fire for anyone.”
The president of the PP, moreover, showed “concerned” that in Spain “it is easier to report on Instagram only at the police station.” He added that it is for this reason that the PP opposed, among other reasons, the law “only yes means yes” promoted by the government of Pedro Sánchez.
“Transparency”
“Transparency, tolerance and the logic of investigation in the face of known facts,” declared the leader of the Andalusian socialists of the Senate, where he represents Andalusia.
The socialist also stressed that if the complaint is false, “what Mr. Landaluce must do is file a complaint against those who reported this situation. And otherwise, obviously, the PP must take immediate action if ultimately, once this protocol is activated, it is proven that the reported facts are true.
It is for this reason that the leader of the Andalusian socialists claimed the mechanisms to activate these protocols in the event of suspected cases of sexual harassment.
