He PP of Castile-La Mancha denounced this Thursday that the president of the Community Council, the socialist Emiliano García-Pagewas not present or intervened in the general debate that took place before the regional courts regarding DANA. A debate in which the actions of the Regional Executive in this crisis were also discussed, as well as the aid provided for particularly affected areas on October 29. “We find the absence of Mr. García-Page very serious,” PP sources underlined.

It should be remembered that there are two cities in this region particularly affected by the DANA of 29-O, as This is the case of Letur and Mirawhere seven people died and serious material damage was caused, these municipalities being devastated by water.

For his part, the president of the PP of Castilla-La Mancha, Paco Núñez, proposed to the García-Page government a broad package of measures aimed at the recovery of the affected municipalities. in the regions of Molina de Aragón, the Cuenca Mountains or the Sierra del Segura. A plan which includes, among other things, the mobilization of 14.5 million euros the Regional Executive Contingency Fund, which can be activated immediately; thus actions supported by Next Generation European funds.

However, all the measures proposed by the Popular Party of Castile-La Mancha to the García-Page executive were rejected by the socialists, just as the government of Pedro Sánchez did with the Valencia map presented by the PP of Alberto Núñez Feijóo.

The president of the PP of Castilla-La Mancha, Paco Núñezstressed that those affected must benefit “now” from financial assistance from the Regional Executive, which he urged not to make promises about future aid that “will or will not arrive.” In addition, Núñez also highlighted the absence of García-Page in the debate on DANA, which he considers a “contempt” of Parliament and hundreds of victims.

Núñez recalled that the PP “did what had to be done”, that is, “put on his boots, remove the mud and be with the people who were going through difficult times”. “Today is not the day to demand responsibilities, there will be time, since the objective is reach agreements so that the people of Castile-La Mancha can urgently get what they deserve and not from the next budget,” he said.

The regional president of the PP stressed that citizens who lost their homes, vehicles and businesses “need help now and not promises”, which is why “it seems difficult to reach agreements with those who don’t want to get along,” which Page demonstrates “by not coming to the debate,” he said.

Tax credits

Núñez insisted on his proposals for those affected by DANA. Among them, the launch of the aforementioned Regional Provident Fund to help citizens who “lost everything”. He also mentioned a set of tax credits so that victims benefit from benefits “when paying taxes”and urged the regional executive to demand the European Solidarity Fund to deal with the emergency; a change in cohesion funds so that they reach the people concerned; demand that the Spanish government include Castilla-La Mancha in the recovery plan or that the Next Generation funds “change their destination to help the victims”.

Furthermore, Núñez asked the socialists that the Council help the farmers and breeders with a recovery plan for rural roads and infrastructure, as well as the use of the CAP crisis reserve, which the government can request “if the farmer or breeder finds himself in a sudden emergency situation” .

For his part, he is the spokesperson for the PP in the Cortes de Castilla-La Mancha, Caroline Agudoindicated that although the García-Page government asks for unity and collaboration in the face of the effects of DANA, this is what the PP has done “from the first minute.” Agudo regretted, at the same time, that his party did not obtain a response to any of its proposals, in particular that of allocating the 14 million from the provident fund to the people concerned.

The DANA caused the death of seven people in Castile-La Mancha, 68 rescues – 14 with Civil Guard helicopters and the rest by the aquatic means of the Military Emergency Unit (UME) -, a total of 50,846 calls to the Emergency Service 112 during the activation of Météocam and 346 incidents with intervention linked to the storm. In total, they were affected 149 municipalities of this community.
