“The PP kneels before the left”

Isabel Pérez Moñino made her debut this Monday at the Council of Spokespersons of the Assembly of Madrid at the head of Vox, with a warning to the Popular Party, given the new reform of the Trans and LGTBI law in Madrid, which was applauded by the left. In December, Vox supported the first reform introduced by Ayuso’s PP in the 2016 laws, to strengthen the protection of minors and eliminate the ideological burden of regulations. The Government took the case to the Constitutional Court and now the PP of Madrid has registered a new modification to soften key aspects and be able to successfully pass the judicial process.

The reform of the LGTBI and Trans laws will be examined in a single reading next Thursday in plenary, so there will be no parliamentary debate, which the Vox spokesperson complained about. From the outset, this modification was applauded by the PSOE and Más Madrid, who believe that the popular party has categorically rectified it.

The Vox spokesperson recalled that her party has always called for the repeal of the laws. He avoided evaluating the favorable vote his party gave to the Ayudo laws in December, when Rocío Monasterio was at the head of the party. But he insisted his position is clear: Only this repeal is worth it.

“A few months ago the PP decided to partially modify these laws. At Vox, we warned that this was not enough and that hormonizing children during puberty was a very serious mistake. The solution was complete repeal,” Pérez Moñino emphasized.

Now “PP is returning to the old methods of free hormonal therapy for minors.” “They once again stand alongside Irene Montero, hand in hand, in the destruction of childhood and adolescence.” According to him, everything is a “scam”.

“Our firm commitment and what we have always said in all parliaments is that all ideological laws that cause irreversible damage to many young people and children must be repealed. “This is a step the government should take now, as is the case in other states,” the Vox spokesperson said.

Pérez Moñino accused the PP of “once again taking one step forward and two steps back when the left insults.” “We cannot kneel to the left, as the PP does, we must be courageous.”

Although Vox’s position during Thursday’s plenary vote seems clear, Moñino preferred to wait for it to be evaluated within his parliamentary group, through the normal channels, before confirming the “no”.

The PSOE voted “yes” to the single reading of the bill, which is generally not common, aimed at reforming the LGTBI and Tranbs laws. The socialists are satisfied with this new reform, even if they recognize that it is still not “their law”, as explained by the deputy spokesperson of the Socialist Group, Marta Bernardo. The PSOE wishes to return to the original text of 2016.

But Madrid voted against the single reading. His spokesperson, Manuela Bergerot, recalled that it was her party which promoted the appeal to the Constitutional Court before the Mediator. From there, his party demands a return to the regulatory framework of 2016: “It is a cowardly attempt to avoid the legal setback, which Ayuso wants to avoid with this measure”.

The PP and PSOE agreements

Moñino, in his first appearance before the press as spokesperson for Vox, took the opportunity to evaluate the complaint that the PP filed before the National Court against the PSOE for crimes of irregular financing, corruption and trafficking of influence: “It was time that the PP did something against the corruption plot that surrounds the PSOE and Sánchez.”

The Vox spokesperson recalled that her party “leads the popular accusations alone”. “It was time for the PP to appear in this case. “Let him be consistent and break all agreements with the PSOE, because it cannot be possible for the CGPJ and the commissions to negotiate and sit down with the PSOE to establish the balance of power.”

The Vox spokesperson also discussed the resignation of Rocío Monasterio and his criticism of Vox: she thanked him for his work but regretted his criticism of the party for lack of internal democracy. “It was a personal decision on her part to leave her MP file behind.”
