The PP of Ayuso will summon Begoña Gómez at the start of the Madrid Assembly commission on Complutense

The PP Madrid will summon the wife of the President of Government, Begoña Gómez, in the first session of the Madrid Assembly commission which seeks to find out if there was nepotism with her on the part of the University Complutense de Madrid (UCM) and announced that it would also be considered to do the same with the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, based on what was known during the meeting.

This was announced by the spokesperson for the PP in the Madrid Assembly, Carlos Díaz-Pache, during the press conference that followed the meeting of spokespersons this Monday, during which the Madrid court also decides the future of the Begoña Gómez case. He also indicated that they would summon the rector of the UCM, Joaquín Goyache, to the first of the sessions.

The objective is to restore the university from the “enormous discredit” caused by the “news” of Gómez’s activity in his chair and to ensure that Madrilenians “can continue to trust the rigor” of the UCM.

This has been one of the great unknowns that has remained since the popular registered last June this commission with the aim of “cleaning the good reputation” of this public university by understanding that the headlines and the news known on the chair led by the president’s wife has damaged its reputation.

This Monday, Vox also announced that it would also call the president’s wife. “Yes, we are going to quote Begoña Gómez. We will summon all the people who can shed light,” said the group’s deputy spokesperson, Íñigo Henríquez de Luna.

A “coordinated” decision with Genoa

“All this has caused enormous discredit to the Public University of Madrid that we must restore, investigate what really happened, purify all political responsibilities and also offer the necessary recommendations so that this does not happen again,” declared the people’s spokesperson.

Díaz-Pache said he hoped Gómez would come “with the desire to collaborate and clarify doubts that might arise about his professional and educational performance.” In the same spirit, the PP deputy recalled that people who are not linked to public administration have the obligation to attend commissions if they are summoned.

What the popular spokesperson also recalled is that throughout this affair, the president of the government has “shown himself to be favorable to collaboration with justice”. “He has not done it yet, I understand that he plans to do it at another time, if a legislative assembly like this that controls what is happening in the region asks him to clarify, to collaborate to clarify what could have happened with perverse behavior on the part of the university, because I understand that it will be totally open to come and give all possible explanations,” he added.

He then explained that this movement of the Madrid PP is “coordinated” with the national leadership of the party and with the “people who must be informed and aware of what is also happening in the Assembly.” He also denied that calling Begoña Gómez invokes Sánchez’s “personal environment,” since she is at the center of the investigation.
