The Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court underlines in its resolution, known this Thursday, that the corrupt plot led by businessman Víctor de Aldama used Status of Ábalos as organizing secretary of the PSOE to obtain “contracts from other administrations” governed by socialists.
The company Soluciones de Gestión, behind which Aldama was hiding, not only obtained million-dollar contracts to sell masks during the pandemic in State Ports and Adiftwo public entities that depend on the ministry headed by José Luis Ábalos.
Subsequently, he also obtained similar awards from two autonomous governments managed by the PSOE: those of the Balearic Islands (which were then chaired by Francina Armengol, now president of the Congress of Deputies) and the Canary Islands ( which were chaired by the current Minister of Territorial Policy, Angel Victor Torres).
This was possible, underlines the Supreme Court, thanks to the ascendancy that the minister at the time, José Luis Ábalos, had over these regional governments, as organizational secretary of the PSOE. The Civil Guard indicates in its reports that Víctor de Aldama obtained these contracts a profit of more than 6.6 million euros.
“Ábalos’ accusation takes us to another dimension,” say PP sources consulted by EL ESPAÑOL. “The fact that the Supreme Court order mentions his organic position places the PSOE at the center of the conspiracy. Because Ábalos was not vice-president of the government, but as number two of the socialists, he had the ascendant over his colleagues in order to guarantee that ministries and other socialist administrations will make life easier for commission agents and performers“.
“If Ábalos had not been organizational secretary of the PSOE,” add the same sources, “perhaps there would not have been cash enters PSOE headquartersas reported before a notary by one of the people allegedly involved in the payment of illegal commissions. Some, in the form of a chalet.”
Ábalos [al que había conocido en agosto de 2018] to influence the final granting of the rescue plan.
The advisor to the Ministry of Transport and Ábalos’ trusted man, Koldo García, kept Aldama constantly informed of the progress of the negotiations that made it possible to carry out the operation.
An apartment for Jéssica
After being informed by Koldo, Aldama communicated on July 15, 2020 to Javier Hidalgo (then CEO of Air Europa), in a WhatsApp message: “Tomorrow morning, first thing in the morning, it’s the 1st, she’s coming from the Treasury and it’s [Ábalos] and the decision is made let it happen, but tomorrow, when I’m with him, I’ll tell you.
Judge Moreno explains that this conversation refers to an ICO credit that the airline had requested from the government. And he confirms that in fact, the next day “he met the President of the Government, with whom Aldama, speaking with
those close to him call him “the 1”, Nadia Calviño Santamaría whom he nicknames “the one from the Treasury” and José Luis Ábalos” to discuss the granting of the ICO credit.
The judge of the National Court also details in his reasoned statement the compensation that the minister at the time, José Luis Ábalos, would have obtained from the corrupt plot. Among them, the purchase of the chalet said The guardian (through an intermediary company) and the rental of an apartment for Jéssica, then partner of Ábalos.
