The PP votes against holding an act of tribute in Congress to the victims of the civil war and Francoism

The Council of the Congress of Deputies approved this Tuesday with the votes of the PSOE and Sumar that the 31 act in honor of the victims of the civil war and Francoism. The PP, for its part, voted against this initiative.

On the occasion of the day of homage and memory to all the victims of the coup d’état, the war and the dictatorship, commemorated every October 31, the Congress table agreed to carry out this act, to which the popular people opposed it.

As LaSexta learned, the PP voted against this initiative, considering that “something like this has never been done”. Furthermore, they added that the explanations on the content of the act “they were diffuse.”

This rejection by the PP of the event commemorating the victims of the civil war and Francoism clashes with the party’s position just a few weeks ago. On October 8, those of Feijóo voted in favor of processing a non-legislative proposal aimed at dissolve associations that defend the dictatorshiplike the Francisco Franco Foundation.

The PSOE’s proposal consists of the inclusion of an additional provision in the aforementioned norm to include as a cause of dissolution “the exercise of activities that constitute apologies for Francoism.

The future standard will specify that these apologies can be produced either by “praising the 1936 coup d’état or the dictatorship that followed”, or by praising its leaders with “contempt and humiliation of the dignity of the victims of the coup d’état, of the civil war”. or Francoism.” or by “direct or indirect incitement to hatred, violence against them or because of their status as victims”.
