The premiere of the play “The Devil and…” took place in St. Petersburg

The premiere of the play “The Devil and…” by the Azerbaijan State Academic National Drama Theatre took place at the Alexandrinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg.

Oku.Az reports that this is the first play in the history of Azerbaijani theatre to premiere at the Alexandrinsky Theatre.

Before the performance, a press conference was held with the participation of the management of both theatres, an exhibition of sketches and photographs of the National Academic Drama Theatre was shown, and a commemorative gift was presented to the Alexandrinsky Theatre.

The exhibition reflects the history of the theatre, the peculiarities of the building in which it is located, famous directors, actors and performances that have become theatrical events.

The press conference was attended by the President of the Alexandrinsky Theatre, People’s Artist Valery Fokin, artistic director of the National Academic Drama Theatre, winner of the State Prize Mehriban Alakbarzade, director of the National Academic Drama Theatre, prominent cultural worker Ilham Asgarov, director Artistic director of the Alexandrinsky Theatre Alexander Malich, Nikita Kobelev “Iblis” and…” appreciated the performance of the play within the framework of the Alexandrinsky International Theatre Festival and exchanged views on future cooperation.

The play was later screened. The production director of the new play is State Prize winner, Honored Worker of Art Mehriban Alakbarzade, production designer is Honored Worker of Culture Ilham Asgarov, costume designer Vusal Rahim, lighting artist Rafael Hasanov, composer Azer Hajiasgarli, consultant Honored Worker of Culture Azer Turan, assistant directors Narmin Hasanova and Ceyran Basharan.

The genre of the play based on the motifs of Huseyn Javid’s tragedy “Iblis” is a deconstructive philosophical metadrama.

It should be noted that the play will be presented to the public at the National Academic Drama Theatre on October 4, 5 and 6.
