President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the first lady Mehriban Aliyeva On September 2, visitors were introduced to the construction of the Istisu health and recreation complex in the Kalbajar district.
AZERTAC reports that the Head of State and the First Lady were informed about the work carried out.
It was reported that this sanatorium, which began to operate in 1927, was considered the second largest resort of allied importance in the former Azerbaijan SSR. On the territory of the complex there were three blocks of beds, a medical bath-service building and a polyclinic block. During the Soviet period, this sanatorium-complex had the opportunity to receive 50 thousand people a year. Applications were made here mainly for the treatment of diseases of the digestive system.
The total area of the reconstructed Istisu health and recreation complex will be 32 thousand square meters. 145 rooms and 10 cottages will be created in the complex.
The SPA Centre of the complex will feature a thermal bath, a therapeutic bath, a medical office, including several therapeutic pools, procedure rooms, pressurized water therapy, massage rooms, steam, salt, relaxation areas and a beauty salon. Guests will also be served by several catering facilities here: restaurants, a children’s entertainment centre, a games room, a sports cafe, a karaoke room and a coffee shop.
German experts took samples from the source of the “Lower Istisu” and performed analyses and tests of the water. According to the analyses and balneological reviews, the natural mineral water Istisu has physiological, metabolic and therapeutic effects. These include the treatment of functional disorders of the gastrointestinal tract and stimulation of digestive function, treatment of sodium and fluid deficiency in the elderly, orthostatic regulation disorders, urinary tract infections, prevention and metaphylaxis of calcium oxalate, cystine and uric acid stones, prevention of dental caries in children and adolescents, and very useful as a supporting effect in adults.
