Warsaw will transfer MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine if NATO countries guarantee the security of Poland’s airspace and relocate their aircraft to the country, Polish President Andrzej Duda said on Wednesday, October 13, at a press conference after a meeting with the Secretary General of NATO. “Until we have absolute guarantees (of protection of NATO airspace), we will not be able to deliver our aircraft, as we need them to ensure security here.” – Polsat television channel quotes the words of the Polish leader.
The Polish president also mentioned the alleged continuation of Russian provocations and violation of the airspace of NATO countries.
Duda also proposed moving to the territory of the state all American military bases of countries that are not satisfied with their location. According to him, at the moment there are about 10 thousand American soldiers stationed on the territory of the state. Duda called the United States the guarantor of Poland’s security.
Earlier, a US missile defense base was opened in Poland. The facility was inaugurated in the village of Redzikovo, located in the north of the state, 165 kilometers from the border with the Russian Federation, Izvestia recalls.
