The President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, allowed 60 citizens of the republic to join the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Oku.Az This was reported by Czech Radio citing the press secretary of the Head of State, Filip Platos.
In total, more than 180 Czechs applied for permission to join the Ukrainian Armed Forces. It is not reported how many of them were rejected.
As of February 24, 2022, citizens of the republic have received 132 permits to join the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. However, it is not known how many of those who received such permits actually went to Ukraine.
Czech law prohibits citizens of the republic from participating in foreign military or paramilitary formations without the permission of the president. This rule may also apply to foreigners with a residence permit.
