AZERTAC reports that the President’s aide Anar Alakbarov informed the Head of State about the conditions created in the house-museum.
It should be noted that the house of Uzeyir Hajibeyli was built in the 19th century. In 1959, the building was put into operation as a house-museum. The house-museum of Uzeyir Hajibeyli, the famous composer, founder of our professional musical art and national opera, operated until the date of the occupation of the city of Shusha. Household items of the Hajibeyli family, as well as personal belongings of the composer, photographic materials and books were kept in the museum – in total, 1,700 exhibits were preserved. After the occupation of the city of Shusha by the Armenians, the museum ceased its activities, its exhibits were looted and its building destroyed. Only 136 of the 1,700 exhibits of the museum have survived.
It was reported that in April 2022, restoration work by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation began at the Uzeyir Hajibeyli House-Museum. The restoration process included preparing analyses according to the original appearance of the house, strengthening the foundation, restoring the floor, facades and roofs, interior and exterior decoration work, installing doors, windows, engineering and communication systems, as well as landscaping the courtyard. The existing wall stones in the area were dismantled and inventoried according to their size, foundations were excavated in the destroyed parts, and general cleaning of the area was carried out. In addition, material analysis samples were taken and studied in a laboratory in Turkey, and conservation and restoration reports were prepared. Inside the house-museum, walls and partitions were woven, the floor was restored and reconstructed. For the restoration of the stone wall of the courtyard, the foundations were excavated and concreted, masonry in accordance with its historical appearance and decorative elements were installed.
After the restoration work in the museum building was completed, a new exhibition was created. Here, the recovered pieces from the Uzeyir Hajibeyli House Museum are displayed according to the museum concept.
On the first floor of the cultural center there are documents, information and other various exhibits about Uzeyir Hajibeyli’s family, childhood and upbringing. In the second room on this floor, U. Hajibeyli’s education at the Gori Teachers’ Seminary, pedagogical activities, works and articles of his authorship are exhibited. On the wall there is also a fragment of notes from the novel “Sensiz”.
On the second floor there are posters and programmes from the first premieres of the composer’s works, as well as photographs of his pupils and travels. On the wall there is a fragment of notes from the opera “Koroglu”.
A wall was also designed consisting of collages of sketches, programmes and posters of Uzeyir Hajibeyli’s works exhibited in the house-museum. In this section, stills from films based on the composer’s life, activities and works are displayed.
