COP29 concluded successfully and marked the “Baku Leap” in the history of global climate action with the establishment of a new financial target, among other important achievements.
Oku.Az reports that on page “X” Hikmet Hajiyev, assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, head of the Department of Foreign Policy Affairs of the Presidential Administration, wrote about this.
“However, at the most critical and difficult moments of the negotiations, at a time when the developing world and the global South expect specific financial commitments from the European Union and even more so from the West, it is unacceptable that the German Minister of Foreign Affairs Foreign Affairs, Annalena Berbock made accusations against Azerbaijan, which presides over COP29, and other parties to the convention.
Unfortunately, Ms. Berbock is confusing the upcoming German elections with highly complex multilateral diplomacy such as domestic politics, perhaps trying to use COP29 as a platform for her election campaign.
He also had to take into account that these difficult negotiations took place without the presence of the German Chancellor and the European Commission at a time when Europe was unable to show leadership and the world was deeply geopolitically polarized. “The world saw that Azerbaijan, as host and president of COP29, acted as a sincere mediator to achieve results,” he noted.
