The Prime Minister of Georgia said that there were no serious violations in the elections.

Currently there are no facts indicating serious violations in the elections in Georgia, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said.

“There are no facts that indicate that we are not talking about falsification, but rather that serious violations could be established in these elections,” – said Kobakhidze.

He stressed that the opposition has no choice but to declare falsification. Opposition politicians justify themselves to voters because before the elections they stated that the Georgian dream was not supported by more than 35% of the country’s inhabitants, Kobakhidze noted.

In the parliamentary elections on October 26, Georgian Dream won more than 53% of the votes. Four other parties that have overcome the five percent barrier to enter parliament do not recognize the election results.

As reported EADailyThe Georgian Prosecutor’s Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Special Investigative Service began investigating alleged crimes committed during the pre-election period and on the day of the parliamentary elections in 47 criminal cases. Allegations of electoral fraud, pressure on voters, violation of the secrecy of the vote, bribery, obstruction of journalistic activity, threats and damage to property are being investigated.

According to the prosecutor’s office, the investigation was launched on the basis of statements from the opposition, the ruling party, the Central Election Commission, NGOs and information from the media.

Prosecutors said people who publicly claim to have information about possible election violations have so far refused to cooperate with the investigation and provide relevant information.

On October 30, the Attorney General’s Office summoned the president for questioning Salome Zurabishvili due to allegations of electoral fraud. The department asked the president to provide evidence for his words. However, she refused to appear.
