The proposal of only two deputies to make glasses free brings the entire Andalusian Parliament to agree

All Andalusian parties voted the same way in the elections Plenary session of the Parliament of Andalusia which started this Wednesday. The PP, PSOE, Vox and Unidad Podemos joined together to give the green light to a law that requires free glasses for everyone under 18, at the request of Adelante Andalucía, a group that has only two deputies .

The norm does not remain in Andalusia. Because, thanks to the regulations of the Andalusian Parliament, the deputies approved the increase the petition to the Congress of Deputies. A question which therefore leaves the decision of whether or not it is admitted to treatment to the Council of said chamber.

Regardless, the standard is already a triumph of political understanding. Something that, in reality, is not new for the Parliament of Andalusia, which already in mid-September unanimously supported changing exams for people with intellectual disabilities.

Thus, the Plenary thus supported the national development of the rule which would make glasses and contact lenses free. for everyone under 18 years old. The rule, defended by the deputy of Adelante Andalucía José Ignacio García, overcomes this procedure and goes to Madrid, where the PP-A has shown itself willing to “loan” deputies to explain the rule to Congress.

García stressed that this rule fights against “visual poverty” and added that the most humble Andalusians “they use fewer glasses or contact lenses than those who belong to more privileged groups”. In addition, the spokesperson for Adelante Andalucía requested that the groups vote in Congress the same way they voted in the Parliament of Andalusia.

“View height”

From the PP they emphasized in the “height of vision” of his group when it comes to supporting the measure and “putting the votes of the majority of Andalusians at the service of a minority group”.

This was stated by the deputy Beatriz Jurado, who thus joined the voice of the spokesperson of the group, Toni Martín, who stressed in the morning that they were ready even to renounce the votes if necessary to take the measure to Madrid and explain it.

Andalusia, in this way, “gives an example of leadership and that here there is seriousness and agreement in the face of the dogmatism and sectarianism of the Spanish government,” Jurado added in his speech from his bench.

Of the PSOE, he spoke Pilar Navarrowho indicated that the central government is already working in the same direction. Indeed, it has been revealed that state regulations are establishing deadlines and conditions for accessing these free glasses and contact lenses.

Throughout Spain

In this way, Navarro disfigured to the Andalusian government Let the Ministry of Health bear the costs of this measure and not the Junta de Andalucía.

On the Vox side, Ana Ruiz justified her support by affirming that free education would avoid academic failure and reduce the burden on children. the public health systembecause “with appropriate treatments from an early age, more costly interventions will be avoided in the future”, just as would happen for oral health.

Juan Antonio Delgado, from Por Andalucía, declared that this proposal “directly affects the daily lives of people” and that “It’s not a whim but an ignored fundamental right for too long”, it is therefore now “urgent and for social justice”, since in Spain, almost 60 percent of the population regularly wears glasses or contact lenses.
