The Public Prosecutor’s Office assures, through a statement, that “the Bank of Spain has violated the fundamental rights of citizens, through their parliamentary representatives, to access and participate in equal conditions in public affairs, functions and positions” in not allowing “access to information by public authorities. » Concretely, “for not having provided the Congress of Deputies with the banking information requested in accordance with the Rules of the Chamber”. “Consequently,” he demands, “that their delivery takes place.”
The Prosecutor’s Office underlines that “three deputies of the Sumar Plurinational Parliamentary Group filed a contentious administrative appeal” before the National Court for not having made public the profits of banking entities thanks to the system of this “deposit facility”. More specifically, on the “amount paid by the Bank of Spain to credit institutions during the years 2022 and 2023 for interest paid on their funds deposited in the deposit facility, with a breakdown of the payment individualized for each entity” , according to the prosecution. .
