The Prosecutor’s Office requests a thorough review of the case against Begoña Gómez before charging Judge Peinado with her complaint

The Prosecutor’s Office has asked Judge Juan Carlos Peinado to provide all the documentation related to the file opened against Begoña Gómez before deciding whether to request her indictment. Shortly after ruling in favor of the investigating judge’s instruction on Pedro Sánchez’s complaint for procrastination in summoning him as a witness, the Public Ministry asks the High Court of Justice of Madrid to demand a “complete” testimony of the trial before deciding whether or not the second complaint, filed by the wife of the President of the Government, is admitted for the crimes of revealing secrets and prevarication against the judge.

Begoña Gómez, through her lawyer, and Pedro Sánchez, through the Public Ministry, filed a complaint against Judge Peinado, who has been investigating the former for months after a complaint from the pseudo-ultra union Clean Hands. In Sánchez’s case, the accusation of prevarication revolves around her summons as a witness, since the investigator irregularly forced her to testify in person at La Moncloa. Gómez’s complaint is broader and covers the entire investigation.

The Madrid Public Prosecutor’s Office has already ruled in favor of admitting the Attorney General’s complaint for processing and is now requesting all documentation of the case before giving its opinion on Gómez’s complaint. The decision whether or not to admit both cases rests with the High Court of Justice of Madrid, before which Judge Peinado sits.

The president of Court Number 41 of the Plaza de Castilla, for his part, has continued his investigation into Begoña Gómez while waiting for, in a few days, the Provincial Court of Madrid to study the resources of the prosecution and the court itself by requesting the intervention of the case file. The magistrate, at the request of Manos Cleans, Vox, HazteOir and other popular accusations, is investigating whether Gómez has taken advantage in any way of her position as wife of the President of the Government to promote her professional career.

So far, two reports from the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard have ruled out, among other accusations, that Gómez had influenced in any way the rescue of Air Europa or the public awards to Juan Carlos Barrabés’ companies. In recent weeks, the magistrate has focused his efforts on verifying whether Gómez had received preferential treatment from the Complutense University in the management of his chair.

Along with Gómez, Barrabés himself and the straight man from the center, Joaquín Goyache, are accused. In their statements as defendants, both men denied any irregularities in anything related to the case. During his interrogations, the judge even questioned a ski instructor to find out if he was the one who introduced Barrabés and Pedro Sánchez.
