The Provincial Delegation of Almería celebrated this Sunday the Provincial Festival with a solemn ceremony during which it presented its most prestigious distinctions with the posthumous Gold Medal to José María Rossell. The president of the Provincial Council, Javier A. García, declared that “we will always increase the flag of identity and pride of Almeria because it represents the values that define us as a society.
The Gérgal Astrophysics Center was an exceptional witness to this solemn and moving celebration. The Culture medal was awarded to the Antas Town Hall, and the Social Affairs medal to the National Police of Almería; of the Sport for Tasy Dmytriv and Agriculture, new in this edition, for Coexphal.
The most moving part of the intervention of the President of the Provincial Council was the one addressed to José María Rossell. He defined the businessman who made his dream come true in Almería as “that visionary pioneer who believed in Almería while no one believed in it and with its activity it only generated prosperity and well-being in the province. The book of tourism in Almería was blank and with his pen he wrote a new direction with great flourish and splendor. His children, Daniel and José María, were his best students and will continue his immense legacy by making their father from heaven proud of them and everything they created.
Finally, Javier A. García closed his speech by stating that “we will always fly the flag of identity and pride of Almería because it represents the values that define us as a society and with which we will continue to conquer the ‘future of the best’. land of the world: Almería”.
Daniel Rossell, son of José María, CEO and vice-president of the Senator Hotels & Resorts groupreceived the Medal and reviewed the life of his father who “was born in a municipality of less than 4,000 inhabitants but who spent more than two thirds of his life in the province of Almería”. In 1977 he rented the Hostal Costablanca and the restaurant Los Arcos, of which he had already spoken about his vision when he organized the first trip to fill this hostel.
“If he thought about it, no obstacle would stop him. He was never paralyzed by doubt and when he said he was going to start something, he did it with dedication and engaging motivation. He had an innate gift, he was a leader who led by example. He always told us to enjoy life work and create wealth for the environmentbut always in harmony with the family. She was one of those self-taught people like him who started from scratch. They are the ones who brought Spain back up,” explained Daniel Rossell.
The son of José María Rossell highlighted three essential things about his father. The team, from the beginning, implemented training plans because they believed in their team; quality, place the customer at the center and build their loyalty; and sustainability, eco-friendly hotels with large green spaces. These three axes may seem obvious, but more than 30 years ago, they were not.
Finally, and one of the most moving moments was when he thanked the Provincial Council for “giving my father the gold medal”. falls on the most ardent defender of tourism in the province of Almería.
