THE Provincial Council of Cordoba Last night the delivery of the R took placerecognition of Tourist Merit 2024award that the Provincial Tourism Office has been awarding since 2004 to companies, organizations and entities that have worked in an exemplary manner in the sector. The event took place in the Baroque Patio of the Merced Palace and brought together numerous authorities, such as the president of the provincial institution, Salvador Fuentes; the mayor of Córdoba, José María Bellido; the president of the Andalusian Parliament, Jesús Aguirre, as well as councilors and representatives of the sector.
The recognition of the best tourist product was awarded to the theatrical performance of ‘The Duchess of Benamejí’inspired by the work of the Machado brothers that takes place in the palace, castle and valley of the Genil River of this municipality. In the category of best tourist accommodation, the Aguas de Villaharta Thermal Spafounded in 1873 and recovered a century later.
The best tourist catering company was awarded to the restaurant El Alma de Puente Genil, an establishment that has received important awards and whose kitchen is headed by chef Ezequiel Montilla. The company Alua activeborn in Zuheros in 2005 by young entrepreneurs who operate in the municipalities of Iznájar and Benamejí, was distinguished as the best tourist services company.
The most important non-profit organization or association in this area was the CIET of Los Pedrochesan entity that is celebrating its 25th anniversary. The recognition of the exceptional municipality or ELA in tourism was for Luqué, whose castle was recently inaugurated after a renovation.
In the tourist communication category, reward to Canal Sur and its programs ‘Destination Andalusia’, in television and radio format, and its digital station Flamenco Radio; while in the professional section, Rafael Valenzuela, journalist of the “Diario Córdoba”, is awarded.
The honorary recognition for the professional linked to tourism at the local level was awarded to Miguel Ángel Roldán, president of the Association of Friends of the Patios of Córdoba.
