THE Provincial Council of Córdoba has awarded ten batches of contracts for the improvement and repair of highways and rural roads in a large part of the province, worth 37 million euros, according to information published yesterday on the Public Procurement Platform. This set of contracts, which is one of the most important of those managed by the Provincial Institution, will be executed for a period of three years, i.e. between 2024 and 2027, and can be extended for an additional year. .

The justification for this initiative, according to the documentation consulted by this newspaper, is that “the provincial network of highways and trails dependent on the Provincial Council constitutes a road network of an alternative and complementary nature to the provincial network, whose importance for the accessibility Its geographical extent is amply justified by the function it fulfills and the traffic it supports, which explains the importance of the work necessary for its repair, conservation and maintenance.

The investment, one of the largest of the Provincial Institution, will be made over a period of three years between 2024 and 2027.

Of the ten lots in which the work is distributed, half correspond to road repairs, and the same half correspond to roads. The largest lot is number 2, with the mission of modernizing the roads located in La Rambla and Fuente Palmera and which obtained a budget of 6.6 million euros; The company that will carry out the work is Arquitectura y Obras de Andalucía, based in Lucène. Next comes Block 3, dedicated to the demarcation of Cordoba and Montoro, with an allocation of 6.4 million. Talleres Llamas, from Montemayor, was the company selected to carry out these works.

For a slightly lesser amount, the Lucena and Rute roads, grouped in lot 4, will be modernized: this group has an amount of 6.1 million euros including taxes and was awarded to the company Mixes Bituminosas, a company located in the Quemadas region. industrial zone of the capital Cordoba.

The following positions are occupied by the demarcations of Baena and Priego and, on the other hand, Peñarroya and Pozoblanco. In the first case, the contract amounts to 5.6 million euros and the company responsible for carrying out the repair and maintenance tasks is Firprosa, based in the capital Córdoba. For its part, the road axes of the Guadiato and Los Pedroches sources will be entrusted to Excavaciones Leal, of Belmez, which will manage a budget of 5 million euros.

Agricultural roads

The remaining five lots will benefit from the improvement of rural roads, which are of capital importance in many municipalities of the province for various reasons: the main one, the execution of agricultural tasks with the consequent transit of machines for field work; and to this are added those linked to outdoor leisure and the enjoyment of nature.

The first batch of contracts concerns this type of secondary roads in the municipalities of Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo and Pozoblanco, with a tender budget of 357,500 euros. The company that will carry out this work is UTE Aguilar Viales y Obras, based in the town of Montemayor. More important, at 1.4 million, is the lot corresponding to La Rambla and Fuente Palmera, which will be taken over by the company located in the Ciudad Jardín district of Córdoba under the name Urbanas Andrecor-Cauchil Construcciones y Edificacións. A similar sum is allocated to cleaning the roads of Córdoba and Montoro, in charge of Exnitransa, based in the peripheral district of Santa Cruz.

For its part, Construcciones Pavón, from Cabra, will embark on the works of the rural roads of Lucena and Rute for 1.8 million, while Jicar, from Montemayor, was awarded lot 10, which corresponds to Baena and Priego .
