The Provincial Deputation of Castellón dedicates the month of October to the care, promotion and enhancement of mental health. Under the theme “Mental health is a journey with a destiny”, the provincial institution, in collaboration with the Foundation for Research, Development and Application of Psychology in the Valencian Community (FIDAP), has organized a series conferences and workshops during which participants will reflect and obtain useful tools for daily life
The president of the Provincial Council, Marta Barrachinahighlighted the need for all of society to work to promote good mental health. “We must give it the visibility it needs, break the stigma and work on prevention and provide resources in collaboration with experts, because the problem of mental health is the responsibility of everyone and the entire province,” said indicated the provincial leader.
This is why the president underlined the importance of these days that the Provincial Delegation of Castellón, in collaboration with FIDAP, organized within the framework of the World Mental Health Daywhich will be held on October 10, with the aim of “promoting emotional and physical health care, providing a group space of trust and care through lectures and workshops on emotional skills”. “We want to improve the quality of life of people suffering from mental health problems and that of their families, but also to raise awareness among other people of the importance of taking care of their mental health,” said Marta Barrachina.
In this sense, the highest representative of the provincial institution praised the work of the FIDAP Foundation and showed his “firm” commitment to continuing to collaborate and work on an issue, that of mental health, which has today become “a fundamental pillar of society”. “We are aware that administrations do not arrive where foundations and associations arrive, which is why it is so important to promote the work they carry out and to make it benefit all citizens,” he said. -he added.
The main objective of the FIDAP Foundation is to promote the promotion and defense of research in the field of scientific and professional psychology, strengthening its actions and presence in all areas of society, through the design and development of scientific, research, training and communication programs. plans.
Spaces for reflection

Thus, on October 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., in the New Dependencies of the Provincial Deputation of Castellón, a series of talks in which mental health experts will try to provide key information to help people on topics of great importance such as psychological health during pregnancy and the first years of life, suicide or loss and bereavement, among others .
On the first day, the importance of psychological health during pregnancy and the first years of life will be addressed by the psychologist. Vanesa Fernández Galindo. On Tuesday, October 8, psychologist Cristina Giménez García will address the theme of suicide, myths and realities; while on Tuesday 15 it will be the turn of the new challenges of adolescence with the psychologist Abel Baquero Escribano. Healthy aging will be the protagonist of the 22nd with the psychologist Beatriz Meliá Altava and, on the last Tuesday of the month, the 29th, Eva Ferrando Daufí will talk about losses and mourning.
In addition to the lecture series, during the month of October, different experts will give a series of specific workshops to officials of the provincial administration. All of them will last three hours and will take place in the building of the new offices of the Provincial Deputation of Castellón. “Team workshops can help develop skills and strategies coping strategies to combat stress, challenges, anxiety, or burnout, especially during difficult times. For this reason, we appeal to administrative staff, because we believe that this is a way of supporting the mental health and well-being of our staff”, underlined Marisa Torlà.
Finally, on October 10, on the occasion of World Mental Health Day, an event open to the public has been prepared during which, through a conference and a round table, the sexual health of young people and the main current threats.
The day will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a conference of Rafael Ballestercoordinator of Unisida and the research group “Health psychology: prevention and treatment”. And an hour later, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., a round table will take place during which the problem will be addressed at different levels: family, educational center and media. The panel, moderated by África Ventura, will see the participation of Julia Fabri, Ana Escrig and Cristina Giménez.
