The PSOE and Compromís demand the resignation of Carlos Mazón for the DANA; and Vox wonders “where is the leadership” of the PP

THE opposition groups In the Valencian Parliament they asked responsibilities towards President Carlos Mazón for his management at the head of DANA, which left at least 216 dead and 16 missing, and they questioned his role during the first hours of the October 29 disaster.

The Vox spokesperson was the first to speak, Jose Maria Llanosaccused the central government on Friday of “criminal negligence” and of having “omitted the obligation of relief” to the Valencians during the dana, and considered that this event demonstrated “the failure of the State of Autonomies”.

In his speech, Llanos also criticized the PP Council. “You (Mazón) took command by going to CECOPI and the clamor in the streets is evident. You have always sold us that you are the party of leadership, where is the leadership?”

After describing the management of the regional government as incompetent, with direct references to advisors Núria Montes and Salomé Pradasthe Vox spokesperson addressed his criticisms to the distribution of powers.

Regional and national governments did not coordinate, they attacked each other from the front and back.” he said.

Referring to the central government, Llanos indicated that it is responsible for “the omission of the duty of relief and criminal negligence, for not having helped from the first minute all those affected by this flood and for not having carried out essential water distributions. infrastructure so that this disaster does not occur.”

Speaking to Mazón, he said: “Do not count on the help of a criminal government, do not give in to the blackmail of those who manage tragedies without scruples for their political calculations”, while offering the support of his training.

“We are available to all Valencians,” he said.

The second opposition spokesperson to intervene was the leader of Compromís, Joan Baldovi. The Valencian politician demanded Mazón’s resignation and accused him of “lying” in his speech.

He also regretted that Mazón had become a “obstacle” to crisis management. “He takes office to clean up evidence and manipulate stories, he knows perfectly well that he will end up in court,” Baldoví said.

“We formally ask him to resign from his position as president because he has already resigned from his responsibilities on several occasions, when he ignored AEMET alerts or when he arrived two hours late in Cecopi,” he insisted.

In this sense, he asked the president a question: “Where was he, Mr. Mazón, when there was a red alert from 7:30 a.m., while the mayors were taking measures in their localities and while the EMU was deployed? How could he disappear while people were being rescued? “Why is your government taking so long to sound the alarm?”

“There are 216 dead who could be any of us. They are victims of his disastrous management. The question is: How many of these people could be alive and at home? Many of these deaths could have been avoided. A lot if he hadn’t been so incompetent and if the alert had been sent in time,” he said.

He continued: “What we can never get back are the 216 lives you had an obligation to protect. One thing is clear: it was not the government that protected them. And today, something that should have happened didn’t happen. arrived. : his resignation, denial kills”.
