The PSOE and Podemos agree to save the remains of the tax reform and negotiate the tax on “decaffeinated” energy requested by Junts

The PSOE and Podemos have reached an agreement that will allow approval of the tax package voted on today in Congress. The pact, which takes up some of the measures promised in the government’s tax reform, obliges the socialists to promote a tax on energy companies, but more “decaffeinated” than the one initially demanded by the purples.

In the coming days, a negotiating commission will be formed with the participation of all the political parties necessary to approve this reform in order to achieve the consensus necessary to approve this tax. If this consensus is not reached before December 31, the Government undertakes to promote a royal decree providing for the extension of the tax on energy companies until 2025.

In all cases, this strategy must be compatible with the non-taxation of investments made in decarbonization, in accordance with the press release published last Monday by the Ministry of Finance.

“The technical complexity of this tax and the need to carry out a rigorous analysis of this amount require us to continue working with the groups for the fair contribution of this sector,” say parliamentary sources close to the negotiations led by Félix Bolaños and Ione Belarra .
