An “unprecedented” and “meet” solution to the greatest tragedy in memory in the Valencian Community. This is what the Mediator of PSPV-PSOE in the Valencian Cortes, José Muñoz, that the regional parliament dismisses the president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, for his management of DANA on October 29.
The socialist leader asked the chamber to dismiss the leader of the Regional Executive, for which he offered the votes “without compensation” of his party colleagues to facilitate the departure of Mazón and promote the entry of a new president with a technical profilewhich is leading a transition towards economic and social recovery after the tragedy of the floods which claimed the lives of 216 people two weeks ago.
Thus, in turn to respond to the intervention of President Mazón in the Valencian Cortes, Muñoz put at the top of the monthunder three conditions: the first is that the president is temporary and has a technical profile; second, that the recovery process be “open and collaborative” in which all civil society actors participate except Vox; and thirdly, once the operation is completed, “the voice returns to the people” and the summons regional elections in 2025.
“We say to the House that, given the inaction of President Mazón who clings to his position, your honors dismiss him and appoint a new president to lead a transition in which climate change deniers are not present“, shouted the PSOE spokesperson to the Valencian Cortes.
Previously, Muñoz began his speech by alluding to the fact that it was “the most complicated speech of his entire life.” He continued to regret that the emergency had its “original sin” in the government agreement between PP-Vox, in which they “handed over” the emergency portfolio “to the deniers”.
It’s also ugly that he eliminated the Valencian Emergency Unit (UVE)a project approved under the government of Ximo Puig but which was not implemented and was widely questioned by the firefighters’ unions, and he regretted that Mazón “gave excessive information” during his speech ” to continue to misinform.”
Dismissal and non-resignation
“He talked for two and a half hours trying to save himself, but he didn’t answer the essentials. “He did not explain why, in response to Aemet’s alarms, he did nothing or did not heed the warnings of the government delegate who proposed up to four times to his Minister of Justice that all state media were at his disposal and he rejected them,” continued.
Likewise, Muñoz reflected on “how, in the greatest tragedy where we needed our commander in chief, he admits no responsibility.” Thus, he continued to call on him for his lack of “self-criticism” to end up asking for his dismissal and not his resignation. “He already resigned de facto when he declared that he had no responsibilities within CECOPI.. The tragedies end with the president being unable to get out. Valencia will rise up, but now it is rising against you,” he insisted.
