This is the Koldo affairon mask purchase contracts during the pandemic, and the hydrocarbon plotwith the alleged VAT fraud on hydrocarbons of more than 180 million euros.

Socialist sources explain that this decision was taken because of the “concern” and “social alarm” generated by the two cases and on behalf of its members and the general interest of citizens. The cases opened before the central investigating courts numbers 2 and 5 of the National Tribunal are, in the opinion of the PSOE, of “national interest” and the “serious” facts investigated could constitute public offenses.

The PSOE intends to contribute to these instructions to be able to investigate all the facts which “accidentally have the appearance of a crime” and to know “the true reality of each of them”.

The socialist ranks take this decision after the last statement to the National Court of businessman Víctor de Aldamain which he pointed the finger at members of the Government and senior PSOE officials, linking them to Koldo plot payments.

Socialists singled out by Aldama

The alleged commissioner of the Koldo conspiracy gave the judge figures on the commissions he allegedly paid to former Transport Minister José Luis Ábalos and his advisor, Koldo García. In fact, Aldama assured that there was a conflict with them to demand these commissions, going so far as to tell them: “I am not the Bank of Spain and you are already doing too much”, after which, according to his story, the former Canary Islands president, Ángel Víctor Torres, will also demand a payment of 50,000 euros.

As Aldama explained before the National Court, Ábalos and Koldo pocketed 600,000 euros in cash (400,000 for the minister of the time and 200,000 for that of his advisor) plus other payments “in kind” such as the apartment in the Plaza de España for the partner of the former minister of the time or “money for things” to Koldo García approximately that he did not give further details.

In addition, Aldama claimed to have carried out a payment of 15,000 euros to Santos Cerdánorganizational secretary of the PSOE, in an envelope which would have arrived via Koldo García. The payments which, according to the businessman, were made because he was in the middle of bidding for construction. According to Aldama, Koldo told him that there were quotas in this area and that Basque specifically belonged to Cerdán.

In his statements before the judge of the National Court, Aldama also added that the current Minister of Territorial Policy Ángel Víctor Torres asked for 50,000 eurosa payment which, according to his account, was never made and spoke of a payment of 25,000 euros to Carlos MorenoChief of Staff of the Vice President and Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero.
