The socialist deputy of the Regional Assembly Alfonso Martínez Baños denounces that PP and Vox “came together” within the Special Commission of Inquiry into Corvera Airport: “They did this to distribute the charges and prevent the appearance of certain people proposed by the PSOE.which are essential to clarify what happened with the terrible management of the airport.
This commission of inquiry was created within the Regional Assembly. This is the first initiative of this type launched during this legislature and it will be chaired by Rubén Martínez Alpánezfrom the Vox parliamentary group. Its goal is investigate failure of liquidation for damages in the construction and operation of the International Airport of the Region of Murcia -located in Corvera-.
Alfonso Martínez assures that this infrastructure is “an example more than the companies, the waste and the botched management of the PP of López Miras led the Region to economic ruin“. And the parliamentarian and president of the Murcian PP maintains that the Popular Party “blatantly lied when it promised that Corvera airport would not cost citizens a single euro.”
“All citizens of the Region of Murcia We will pay 300 million euros for an airport that welcomes far fewer travelers than San Javier”, asserts Martínez. “Specifically, San Javier airport reached 1,273,774 passengers in 2018, while Corvera in 2023 had 877,796. That is about 400,000 fewer. »

In this sense, the socialist deputy assures that Vox must explain “why it wants to cover up the regional government’s noise”“. Concerning the Regional Executive, he says that “they use the institutions as if they were their own, while all citizens continue to pay for their incompetence and terrible management.”
“The people who live in the Region of Murcia deserve transparency and answers, not pacts of silence between those who led us to this situation“. In the same spirit, let us recall that the Socialist Parliamentary Group asked the Regional Assembly for a complete monograph so that López Miras “accounts for the disastrous management of this infrastructure”.
To carry out the plenary session requested by the socialists, Martínez adds that they prepared “a series of questions addressed to the regional government to inform you of your forecasts concerning the number of travelers and what steps you plan to take to increase it.
Podemos reviews
The constitution of the Special Commission of Inquiry into Corvera Airport also generated tensions in the left bloc. In fact, the PSOE attacked Podemos for not supporting their proposals for appearance: “From the PSOE we voted in favor of all the proposals for appearance made by all parties, including Podemos”.
“However, Podemos ties with PP and Vox and did not support ours, he abstained from the appearance proposals made by the socialist parliamentary group”, adds Martínez. “That is why Podemos consciously lies, simply to make headlines and obtain advantages electoral.”
