The leader of the Valencian PSOE, the Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities, Diane Morantoffered the PP the votes to support an alternative candidate for president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazon. “We offer the PP all the votes of the Socialist Party without compensation,” underlined the socialist leader of the region.
“We ask the PP to dismiss Mr. Mazón and appoint this president and the Technical and Transitional Council and to call elections when the emergency allows,” assured Morant. They do this to advance the establishment of a new government “without having to submit again to the conditions and blackmail of Vox”.
“We do not want seats or positions, in exchange we will not be part of this Council,” declared the secretary general of the Valencian PSOE. Instead, he imposed three conditions on the PP: “Mazón’s dismissalelection of a president and a Council of Technicians focused on reconstruction. “Once this phase, that of urgent reconstruction, is completed, the voice will be given back to citizens so that they can decide on the future of their territory with a government with full powers,” he underlined. Morant thus mentioned the “calling of early elections in 2025”.
All this, the current head of Science, Innovation and Universities wanted to insist, “when normality is regained”. “This is the hand that we, Valencian socialists, extend to the Valencian and national PP in this moment of crisis,” he declared during the institutional appearance which took place this Friday afternoon.
In addition, he asked the new government to “promote budgets for the year 2025 that respond in capital letters to the need for reconstruction.” “The 250 million announced so far are a shame, a paltry sum, given the severity of the destruction we are facing,” he detailed.
“Unprecedented solution”
“We are aware that we are proposing an unprecedented solution, but in the face of a tragedy of this magnitude, all parties must bring out the best in themselves and understand that it is time for useful politics to think about the well-being of all. the population and not in the electoral calculation”, reflected the leader of the socialists of the Valencian Community.
Morant took the opportunity to criticize the management of Mazón, who also appeared this Friday in the Valencian Cortes to report on the management of the DANA crisis. “He must go, but we must guarantee that whoever replaces him will not be just as incompetent, or even worse,” warned the minister.
In Morant’s eyes, the reaction to this DANA contrasts with that which occurred when it came to “protecting ourselves from the pandemic and also the terrible DANA of 2019”. “Our citizens must feel protected,” he said. And he stressed the importance of making Valencians understand that “the highest priority” of the authorities is “their security and well-being”. And he concluded by saying that Mazón “cannot continue everything as if nothing had happened.”
