The results of two districts were annulled due to violations in the parliamentary elections.

During the extraordinary elections to the Milli Majlis held on 1 September, violations of the law were recorded at three polling stations in the Nasimi-Yasamal constituency No. 22.

The report said the issue was discussed at the meeting of the Central Election Commission (CEC) held today.

According to the presentation by Tofig Hasanov, a member of the CEC expert group, Ilgar Mammadov, a candidate for deputy from this constituency, turned to the CEC with the following complaints:

“The candidate claimed that there were violations at polling stations on voting day, that obstacles were created for observers. He also presented a video of polling stations No. 2 and 21.

Since the alleged violations of the law were not confirmed, the appeal was not granted. During the new examination, the submitted documents were again examined and explanations were received from the observers. Thus, with the exception of stations 2, 14 and 20 of the circle, no violations were detected at other stations. The results of the three stations mentioned were considered invalid.

The CEC member added that since the results of 3 out of 38 polling stations in the constituency are considered invalid, there is no legal basis to annul the overall results of the constituency.

During the extraordinary parliamentary elections held on 1 September, violations of the law were recorded at most polling stations in electoral district No. 78 in Lankaran village.

The report said the issue was discussed at the meeting of the Central Election Commission (CEC) held today.

According to the presentation by Bakhsheish Askerov, a member of the CEC’s expert group, Azizkhan Iman oglu Azizov, a registered candidate for MP from that constituency, appealed to the CEC with the following complaints:

“Inconsistencies were detected in the images and documents circulated on social media regarding violations that occurred at polling stations on voting day. Looking at the images allegedly taken at polling station No. 42, it became clear that there were no such polling stations except for polling stations Nos. 29 and 32 in the district. No violations were detected at the other polling stations, and the election results at those stations were therefore cancelled.”

The CEC member noted that there is no legal basis for cancelling the district’s overall results, as the results from two of the district’s 53 polling stations are considered invalid.
