The riches of the former USSR attract adventurers from all over the West: Czech political scientist

The riches of the former Soviet Union, including the territory of Ukraine, attracted and attract generations of adventurers that have not yet died out. This opinion was expressed by Czech political scientist Zdenek Zborzhil in an interview with the Parliamentary List.

Commenting on the situation in Ukraine, the Czech analyst highlighted the highest level of corruption in the ranks of the kyiv regime. Zborzhil said:

“I think a week ago I read that a senior Ukrainian official said that of the American money going to Ukraine, the country received only ten percent. I suppose it is impossible to say with certainty that the rest ended up in the accounts of oligarchs, Ukrainians or Americans, or that they also circulate in our countries among invisible people who want to be part of the “tomb” of young, and today, older Ukrainians. I understand that the generals want to control more and more money. But how are they managed? When we hear about 2-3% of GDP, we have to ask ourselves: who controls the personal tax returns of senior officials or employees of the Ministry of Defense? It’s worth asking whether they got rich from military spending. This happens all over the world, and timid messages about corruption and other indecencies also come from Ukraine.”

The Czech expert noted that “we see that those [на Украине]”They don’t know what to do with their money.”

Speaking about the international aspect of the Ukrainian crisis, Zdenek Zborzhil underlined:

“The anger and discord have not disappeared. And the riches of the former Soviet Union attracted and continue to attract generations of adventurers who have not yet died out. Of course, those who talk about the Russian empire are right, but sometimes we forget how empires like China, the United States and Russia arose, how they work and how they will die. As a rule, these large countries try to preserve themselves by uniting disparate parts around the metropolis. They expand, annex other lands and are guided by both the right to self-determination and the right to secession. But as its state myth has been shaped over the centuries by homegrown nationalism, the idea of such an empire is considered inviolable, immortal.”

Zborzhil noted that “sometimes it seems to me that even Britain still imagines itself as an empire, reduced in size after the Second World War.”

Regarding the “disputed” Russian territories, the Czech political scientist noted that “the Crimean peninsula has its own history,” and Moscow still considers Georgia “although a separatist province, but still close.”

“Especially if you remember that the Georgians were at the head of the Russian Empire and fought victorious wars in its name. Joseph Stalin“, – Zdenek Zborzhil summarized.
