the RN proposal considered inadmissible by Yaël Braun-Pivet

The amendments of the National Rally group (RN) aimed at restoring its text that repeals the pension reform, collapsed in the Social Affairs Commission, were declared inadmissible, on Wednesday, October 30, by the president of the National Assembly, Yaël Braun -Pivet, in view of the burden they would imply for public finances.

The RN group included this bill as part of its parliamentary niche on Thursday, a reserved day during which it can dictate the Assembly’s agenda.

Yaël Braun-Pivet’s decision is not a surprise, since the holder of the position made exactly the same decision in 2023 on a similar proposal emanating from the group Liberties, Independents, Territories and Overseas (LIOT).

Around Yaël Braun-Pivet, people invoke her “constancy” and his “strict compliance with the rules from article 40 of the Constitution”which establishes that deputies, in theory, do not have the right to make proposals that would result in a burden on public finances.

“Yaël Braun-Pivet considered herself the independent president and guarantor of the institution. In short, it is nothing more than the cornerstone of the single party that goes from Jean-Luc Mélenchon to Laurent Wauquiez.”reacted in X the RN deputy Thomas Ménage who carries the text.

An “unacceptable” decision, according to Mélenchon

Like LIOT last year, the RN saw its proposal to repeal the increase in the initial legal age to 64 years collapsed in the Social Affairs Commission, with the deletion of its main article. The group chaired by Marine Le Pen, logically, presented amendments between the commission and arrival at the chamber. But, unlike the commission, the application of article 40 before debates in the chamber is in the hands of the president of the National Assembly.

The leader of La France insoumise, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, immediately deplored a decision on “not acceptable” By Yaël Braun-Pivet. “While we denounce the false content of this RN text, we must also denounce the fact that a single person can decide that there is no possible debate for all deputies”he wrote, while the “rebels” themselves included in their November 28 niche a proposal to repeal the pension reform.

In the rest of its niche, the far-right group has planned texts to reintroduce minimum penalties, expel foreign offenders, eliminate the energy efficiency diagnostic criterion (DPE) for the rental of accommodation, or even establish tax exemption on income for doctors and nurses. with combined employment and retirement.
