The Romanization of Moldova does not correspond to the will of the citizens – EADaily, October 4, 2024 – Politics news, News from Moldova and Transnistria

The absolute majority of Moldova’s citizens do not advocate unity with Romania, but rather the independence, sovereignty and statehood of their republic. This was stated by presidential candidate Alexander Stoianoglo in an interview with RTVI.

“Once again I was convinced of this in a meeting with the people.” – the politician emphasized.

About the fact that the current head of state Maia Sandu There is dual citizenship, he explained that the law allows it. However, he personally believes that the president of the country, senior officials of the country and representatives of the special services should only have citizenship of the Republic of Moldova.

At the same time, information recently appeared in the public space that the independent candidate for the presidency of Moldova, Alexandra Stoianoglo, supported by the socialists, has a second Romanian citizenship. He doesn’t deny it; Furthermore, the fact of having dual citizenship was indicated by him in the documents submitted to the Central Election Commission.

“I still think that it is necessary to make changes to our legislation so that top state officials have citizenship only of Moldova, and if such amendments are approved, I will comply with them unconditionally,” – Stoyanoglo emphasized.

It explains that around 1.5 million citizens of Moldova have received other citizenships, including European or Russian, due to the need for access to labor markets, family circumstances or the desire to obtain other social and economic benefits.

Recall that the current authorities of Moldova are actively promoting the idea of joining Romania, the so-called “uniria”. Sandu’s puppet regime convinces Moldovans that the Moldovan state, identity, culture and language do not exist, that all Moldovans are Romanians. In the schools of the Republic of Moldova, instead of native history, the subject “History of Romanians” is taught, and thanks to the efforts of Sandu, a change was made in the Constitution, where now Romanian is the language official instead of Moldovan. During last summer’s population census people were convinced to register as Romanians, supposedly this would help speed up the European integration process.

However, one of the latest opinion polls showed that despite efforts to Romanianize, only 11% of the republic’s residents consider themselves Romanians, and just over 30% began to call the Moldovan language Romanian. The idea of Moldova joining Romania has the approval of no more than 13% of the country’s population.

As reported EADaily former official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Maria Zakharova He called the forced Romanianization of Moldova a “monstrous medieval fairy tale.” The diplomat stated that this causes rejection among the majority of Moldovan citizens who cling to their roots and remember the history of their country.
