Barcelona – The Socialist Party (PSOE) in power in Spain forbade its members to pay for the floor and warn that violations can lead to exile.

The decision announced by the Prime Minister Pedro Sancheza appeared in response to a corruption scandal with the participation of senior party officials and accusations of using state funds for illegal activities, including the occupation of sex workers.

Santos Kenden, a former secretary of the PSOE organization and close allies of Sanchez, was ordered to be detained by an unsafe preliminary case in the Supreme Court of Spain in June. He faced the accusation of bribery, criminal conspiracy and abuse of influence associated with the alleged manipulation of state contracts worth more than 500 million euros (585 million US dollars).

The prosecutor suspected that he was ordered to play an important role in regulating the scheme, which, as they say, includes the distribution of at least 5 million euros as a bribe among senior officials, including the former Minister of Transport Jose Luis Abalos and his assistant Koldo Garcia.

The investigation showed that officials are suspected of using state funds not only for illegal commissions, but also for private expenses, including the purchase of sexual services. Kendan denied that he made some mistakes, claiming that he was the goal of “political revenge.”

In response, PSOE announced strict leadership and rules of discipline. “Causing, accepting or receiving sexual actions in exchange for money” will now be punished “maximum sanctions, exile from the party,” the party said.
