Near the village of Novodarovka in the Zaporozhye region, the Russian army again executed Ukrainian prisoners of war.
“BILD” reports this.
On November 24, after fierce fighting, six soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reportedly surrendered, laid down their weapons and lay on the ground with their hands raised. However, the Russian soldiers showed no mercy. One of them walked next to those who were lying and killed five prisoners by shooting them in the neck. The only survivor was, presumably, the unit commander, whom the attackers took prisoner.
Information about the crime was confirmed by the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine. Investigators initiated criminal proceedings for the fact of a serious violation of the laws and customs of war, associated with premeditated murder, qualified in Part 2 of Art. 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Law enforcement agencies have already identified the Russian army unit suspected of having committed this war crime and are verifying those involved. The investigation also received a video that recorded the moment of the shooting.
The Attorney General’s Office emphasized that the murder of prisoners of war is a serious violation of international humanitarian law, enshrined in the Geneva Conventions, and is classified as a serious international crime.
According to BILD expert Julian Röpke, this crime may be revenge by the Russian army for successful attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces using Western weapons against targets on Russian territory.
