Early in the morning of November 22, 2024, Russian troops attacked a residential neighborhood in the city of Sumy, using Shahed-type unmanned aerial vehicles.
This was reported by the press service of the Sumy Regional Military Administration.
As a result of the attack, two people died and 12 more were injured of varying severity. Several buildings were reported damaged and several vehicles were destroyed.
Emergency services continue to work at the scene of the impact.
There was shrapnel inside the Shahed used in today’s attack on Sumy, Sumy OVA reported. These weapons are not designed to destroy objects, but to kill people.
Shrapnel is an artillery projectile with an explosive charge containing bullets or metal rods designed to destroy enemy personnel in open areas.
The press service of the Sumy Regional Military Administration notes that during the day of November 21, Russian troops carried out 9 attacks on border territories and settlements in the region. A total of 23 explosions were recorded.
The communities of Khotinskaya, Belopolskaya, Krasnopolskaya and Lebedinskaya were attacked. Particularly serious damage was caused to the Lebedinskaya community, which was the target of a missile attack. As a result of the strike, four private homes, one non-residential building and one educational building were damaged there.
