The frigate “Almirante Golovko” completed its journey to the Mediterranean Sea. Previously, the ship carried out exercises in the English Channel, where European authorities are going to impose restrictions on the passage of tankers carrying Russian oil.
“In the Mediterranean Sea, North Sea sailors will perform tasks as part of the Navy’s operational training.” — the Northern Fleet reported in a statement, Interfax reports.
The agency noted that the ship is armed with long-range Caliber cruise missiles, and a year ago, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said they planned to equip the frigate with Zircon hypersonic missiles.
The “Admiral Golovko” set sail on November 2.
“The main objective of the campaign is to display the flag and ensure a naval presence in operationally important areas of the far ocean zone.” — reported the press service of the fleet.
