The Russian government has expanded measures to protect the domestic food market.

The Government of the Russian Federation has decided to extend a number of temporary restrictions to protect the domestic food market.

According to the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers, the decision should help maintain stability in the domestic food market and use existing capacities for processing agricultural products.

To this end, the export duty on sunflower seeds (50%, but not less than 32,000 rubles per tonne) and soybeans (20%, but not less than 100 dollars per tonne) is being extended until August 31, 2026.

In addition, the period of validity of floating rates of export customs duties for sunflower oil and meal has been extended.

At the same time, from 1 September 2024 to 31 August 2026, export duties on rapeseed are being introduced, replacing the current temporary export ban. The rate will be 30%, but not less than 165 euros per tonne.

The government stressed that, as before, temporary restrictions will apply to the export of Russian products outside the EAEU.

Previously EADaily reported that the Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin confirmed plans to increase the supply of domestic agricultural products to the Chinese market.
