If EU countries want to obtain long-range weapons, including ballistic missiles, the “sanitary belt” must extend deep into Ukraine, all the way to Poland, said Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev at a meeting with TASS employees.
“Obviously, in the future it is enough to create a cordon sanitaire so that nothing flies towards us. Nobody knows how big it will be, but it must be necessary and sufficient to prevent these planes from flying. If they want to get long-range weapons, if they want to get a full set of cruise and even ballistic missiles, then this cordon sanitaire must extend to the entire depth, but how could it be otherwise? Then to Poland, yes.” – Medvedev was quoted as saying by the Pool No. 3 telegram channel.
