The scandal of the Macron government: the vigil of the French minister

A few days later, one of the most important UN events will be held in Baku: the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29). As the name suggests, this is a meeting not only of Azerbaijan, but also of an organization uniting about 200 states: the UN.

Unfortunately, on the eve of this prestigious event, France and the European Parliament, which keeps its word, call to belittle it and boycott it. The French Minister of Environmental Transition, Energy, Climate and Risk Prevention, Agnes Panier-Runache, joined the list, which also includes the president of the European Parliament, Norway, and the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.

The minister, chosen for his closeness to the Armenian lobby, gave a speech that will surprise everyone. He said he will participate in the COP29 to be held in Baku, but no French official will communicate with the Azerbaijani authorities.

Climate problems are an issue that attracts the attention of the entire world, and the fact that the French minister dresses this issue in a political suit is an indicator of hypocrisy and prejudice. “There will be no contact with the Azerbaijani authorities,” Anyes said, adding that he would prefer the conference not to take place in Baku. He even implicitly humiliated Armenia. “In the vote we participated in last year, Azerbaijan won from Armenia the right to hold the next climate conference,” he hinted.

Dressed in a political suit for the UN event, the minister also said: “We have complex and difficult diplomatic relations with Azerbaijan. Therefore, there will not be any events with French officials who could emphasize any element of Azerbaijan’s policy.”

What makes France find itself in such an abnormal and hysterical situation? Let’s try to make it a little clearer. First of all, let’s start with the fact that France’s attitude to the events that have occurred in our region in recent years is a contradictory attitude that does not fit into any diplomatic ethics, does not comply with the norms of international law and does not comply with the rules of the system of international relations. This is mainly due to the fact that the French leaders, especially French President Emmanuel Macron, are political novices.

The specific attitude towards Azerbaijan is an indicator of the degradation of the domestic and foreign policy of Macron’s France. This is manifested not only in the attitude towards Azerbaijan. It is impossible not to notice the trend of degradation in France’s internal politics, in relations with its allies within the European Union, as well as with the United States and NATO.

Another reason for France’s anti-Azerbaijani stance is undoubtedly the anti-colonial activity initiated by official Baku. As is known, the history of France consists of colonialism. This policy continues today. This state remains in the archive of history with its cruelty and is well known in the modern world. In recent years, this policy has failed. They are expelled from their former colonies, the number of anti-French actions increases. Macron’s government, which has lost its mind, considers Azerbaijan to be the culprit. His policy towards Corsica and New Caledonia also demonstrates this.

Official Paris falsifies, through its emissaries, the elections and referendums held at the request of the inhabitants of New Caledonia, located 9,000 kilometers from France, and tries to remain in those territories. This is due to the colonial characteristics that French policy has maintained.

The saddest thing is that France is trying to make up for what happened within its former colonies. To maintain Paris’ official power and influence, it does not hesitate to terrorize its overseas provinces, specifically Martinique and Guadeloupe. The crackdown, curfew and power cuts sparked massive protests in Martinique.

To be sure, France’s attacks on Azerbaijan are not motivated by state interests, but simply to please the Armenian lobby. Macron’s government hopes to succeed in the elections with the financial and moral support of Armenians. But the point is that Macron has led the country to disaster during his seven years in office. He completely lost the trust and support of voters during his presidency. His failed management and incompetence lead France step by step towards disaster and crisis. Government crises, repressive measures against immigrants, anti-Semitism and social problems are on the rise. All this puts the president and his team in a difficult situation. The government is experiencing a serious rating problem.

The measures adopted by France as a whole, by Macron and his team, are reminiscent of those of a mentally disabled person. If this were not the case, climate issues, considered humanity’s most serious problem, would not be dressed in a political suit. But let Macron be assured that, like all his efforts, this attempt will be unsuccessful.
