He Science Museum of the University of Navarra organized a botanical illustration workshop for all audiences so that participants could develop artistic and technical skills to represent plants and flowers.
The workshop will be held in the building of University sciences for five Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.: October 19, December 14, February 15, April 12 and June 14.
The sessions will be delivered by the teacher and painter Laura González Toledo and will have the collaboration of the Botany section of the department of Environmental Biology of the Faculty of Sciences.
Marie-Anne Reynell, director of development Science Museumunderlines that one of the objectives of this training is to educate the eye and to promote the observation of nature. “Through botanical watercolor, we invite participants to stop, look at nature and capture those details that, in the hectic pace of modern life, often go unnoticed. » Participants will learn to contemplate the anatomy of botanical species, accurately capturing essential details such as textures, shapes and colors.
This thematic workshop, which aims combine scientific observation and artistic creationis presented in four modules: the first of them aims to introduce the technique through volume exercises with watercolor and to discover the different textures; In the second, you will learn the main differences between botanical art and scientific illustration; the third focuses on botanical composition through the dissection or decomposition of a plant; and in the fourth, participants will be able to draw and paint landscapes both personally and through photographs.
