At the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), held in Baku, the second day of the parliamentary meeting jointly organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Milli Majlis began.
Oku.Az informs that within the framework of the event a session called “Addressing Climate Vulnerability: Promoting a Comprehensive and Fair Approach to Climate Action” is being held.
Based on information on the real-life impacts of climate change, this session will allow parliamentarians to delve into how to address the unique vulnerabilities of countries such as small island states, mountainous countries and landlocked countries.
In these contexts, some important features of environments, such as nature and biodiversity, important for sustainable development, and how they can be protected and used to address climate change will be discussed.
The session will also promote intergenerational dialogue on climate change.
It should be noted that more than 160 parliamentarians, including 12 spokespersons and vice presidents, participated in the event, which was attended by 92 delegations from 66 countries and international organizations and up to 330 participants.
