Investigative material about the “Ildırım” organization was broadcast on Baku TV.
In 1942, the popular writer Gülhüseyn Huseynoğlu, the orientalists Ismikhan Rahimov and Haji Zeynalov created an organization called “Ildırım”.
Over time, the members of this organization, whose number reached 8, became students of Baku State University. The main goal of “Ildırım” was to separate Azerbaijan from the Soviet Union, to obtain the acquittal of the writers who in 1937-38 were arrested and branded as enemies of the people and sent to Siberia and shot, as well as to raise the Azerbaijani Turks. at the level of the state language.
At a time when repression was rampant, the creation of such an organization was possible with people whose love for the country was very high.
“Ildırımçılar” decides to write a letter to Samad Vurgun, the main Soviet poet of the time, and ask for his support.
Under the dictation of Gulhuseyn Huseynoglu, Ismikhan Rahimov writes a letter in writing similar to printed letters. They think that if this letter signed by “Dönmezler” is not handwritten, they will not recognize its lines if they intercept it. However, the letter was delivered to the State Security Service by Samad Vurgun. Ismikhan Rahimov himself confirmed this fact.
But Samad Vurgu did not have another chance because he himself was being persecuted.
In 1945, in universities, all lines from students were obtained under the pretext of taking written tests.
The science of calligraphy has developed in the Soviet Union in such a way that thousands of students recognize Ismikha’s verse. After monitoring him for 9 months, they arrested him, then G. Huseinoglu and others. According to the Supreme Court decision, Ismikhan Rahimov, Gulhuseyn Huseynoglu and Haji Zeynalov were sentenced to death. In those years the sentence of execution was temporarily eliminated, so the sentence was replaced by 25 years in prison. Other members are sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Finally, after Stalin’s death, it was decided to review this case, like many other issues, and in May 1955 the “Thunderbolts” returned home. With the beginning of the national liberation struggle in the late 1980s, the “Ildırımçı” are finally getting closer step by step to the day they have been waiting for. Although they cannot see Azerbaijan today, which has fully restored its territorial integrity and sovereignty, the spirit of “Ildırımchi” is already happy.
