The Senate demands more resources from the government in the face of the judicial congestion caused by drug trafficking in the Campo de Gibraltar

The Senate Judiciary Committee approved a motion on Tuesday urging the government to create new courts in Campo de Gibraltar, one of the areas most affected by drug trafficking in the country, as well as strengthen the staff of civil servants serving the Administration of Justice in this region of Cádiz, including the Section of the Provincial Court of Cádiz based in Algeciras.

The motion was presented by the PP and defended by the senator and mayor of Algeciras, José Ignacio Landaluce, who recalled that the Special Anti-Drug Prosecutor’s Office, in its latest report, denounces a “neck” at the judicial level with a volume and a “scale of procedures which mean that for the four fdrug prosecutors working in the area are not affordable carry out the procedures as they really want.

He denounces the one of the four prosecutors who handle all drug cases in the judicial districts of Algeciras, La Línea de la Concepción and San Roque, as well as in subsequent trials, only the delegated prosecutor has exclusivity in the matter, while the other three combine drug cases with the appearance in court of gender violence or incidents on other criminal, civil and even social.

The fight is totally unequalL. The problem is that many police operations end up in a bottleneck in court due to a 19th century procedural system. “The procedures drag on and there is no immediate response,” says the tax report cited by Landaluce. For this reason, the senator declared that the creation of new courts is “urgent and necessary, with j“Second category judges, which would guarantee greater experience and less transience.”

Senator PSOE Mary of the Angels Moon He asked “where are you going to install more judges in Algeciras at this time of year, taking into account that the judicial seat you are using is in precarious conditions, in a state of disrepair.” In this sense he called it “naive” assuring that the Junta de Andalucía will not make the City of Justice “because what the councilor designs is a model but does not execute it”.

Landaluce disfigured the The PSOE votes against “Just like they did not support the other day the defense of the Civil Guards and the police with the Special Zone of Singularity. I am not insulting Pedro Sánchez or any type of minister, I am saying what is the reality, it ‘that is to say we all have to work together increase sanctions against drug trafficking, increase the provision of police resources, improve the capacity and quality of places where they can work and ensure better administration of justice, more comfortable and more operational for judges and prosecutors .
