The sentence maintains that Daniel Sancho had “the intention to kill” Edwin Arrieta

Daniel Sancho “hit” Edwin Arrieta with “intent to kill” to the Colombian surgeon and “prepared” the crime with the prior purchase of knives, a saw and plastic bags, according to the sentence by which the Spaniard was found guilty of premeditated murder and sentenced to life imprisonment August 28 in Thailand.

The 47-page sentence, made public on Thursday, states that “the defendant’s act of banging the deceased’s head against the edge of the sink (…) demonstrates intent to kill“, contrary to the defense’s argument that Arrieta died as a result of an accident on August 2, 2023 in a hotel room on Phangan Island.

The text of the court decision states that “the evidence presented by both the prosecution and the co-complainants strengthens the conclusion that the defendant was responsible for the victim’s death, although They were unable to determine the exact cause of death.“, because the autopsy was inconclusive as key parts of the body, such as the thorax, were missing.

The body of Arrieta, who was 44 at the time of her death, was dismembered and her remains scattered in various locations on Phangan island, including in the sea.
